Can I feed my pet bird human food? ×
- Certain human foods can be shared with your pet bird as treats. These can include unsalted nuts, whole-grain pastas, unsweetened breakfast cereals and low-fat cheeses. However, there are certain human foods that should NEVER be shared with your bird. In addition to avoiding salty, fatty or greasy snacks, you should NEVER give your bird chocolate, which contains theobromine, a chemical that is safely digested by humans, but can fatally harm your bird. Avocados can also be toxic to birds, as can any form of alcohol.
