Sentry HC® Introduces First-Ever Toothbrush Designed Specifically for Dogs
(Omaha, Neb. – July 14)

Sentry HC, a division of Sergeant’s Pet Care Products, Inc., introduces the first toothbrush designed to work with the unique structure of a dog’s mouth to improve oral health. The Petrodex ® Tooth-Hugger ™ brush is specifically designed to keep pets’ teeth clean and healthy between visits to the veterinarian. With unique bumps, nubs and ridges, it gently cleans all exposed surfaces of pets’ teeth. The outer edges of the brush massage gums and loosen material caught in the tooth/gum line. Outer ridges and nubs clean the tongue and cheeks. The specially-designed brush head creates the best angles for cleaning.

Anatomically, pets’ teeth differ substantially from human teeth. The Tooth-Hugger brush is shaped to fit exactly over the pet’s teeth and brush all sides simultaneously. This makes the brushing process quick and efficient. Because toothpaste fits into a unique trench within the brush itself, much less of the paste or gel is lost or swallowed by the pet compared to using a conventional toothbrush.

“Although pet toothbrushes were previously available, none were designed to address the specific anatomy and needs of a dog’s mouth,” says Gene Wagner, DDS, inventor of the Petrodex Tooth-Hugger brush. Dr. Wagoner holds 32 patents for products designed for oral care, primarily in adult and pediatric human dentistry. “My inspiration for this product came from my own pet. I wanted to purchase a brush for their teeth and realized that the brushes available were really human toothbrushes packaged as a pet product. Clearly, it was not designed for pet teeth. That is when I started to design the Petrodex Tooth-Hugger brush.”

Two versions of the Petrodex Tooth-Hugger brush are available, one for small dogs and one for larger breeds. In addition, the Tooth-Hugger Dosing Brush is also available.
